What?
I invest a lot of time and energy into the things I commit myself to. I have learned so much and have been impacted by every one of my experiences in a deep and meaningful way. Therefore, I decided to list a few, even though all of them are very important
Impactful Classes
These are certain classes that really have shaped my college experience.
Math 140 was especially meaningful in my freshman year. I personally have struggled in math, so I was nervous to even take it. Jenn Whitfield, my professor, was the entire reason I succeeded in the course. I went to her office hours, video called her, and went to the Help Sessions, which made a significant difference. I worked harder than I ever did because I had to teach myself how to study in a course that I had no idea where to start. I ended the course with high marks and actually was employed by my professor to be a Help Session Leader for the Math 140 Help Sessions.
Psych 107 & Psych 300 was also impactful to me. In those classes, I was very eager to learn considering it was my major. I took the same professor for both classes because I absolutely adore Dr. Pamela Edens. I went to her office hours often and have established a good relationship with her. She has been very helpful with giving advice about graduate school, research opportunities, and her general knowledge.
Impactful Roles
My time on campus has forged some great friendships and created many great opportunities for me to be a better leader.
My role as Historian in LechFadden's Community Council was very impactful to me. I had the opportunity to work with many of my peers to make their experience in the dorms more fulfilling. I had the opportunity to make students feel as if they were home, and it was very rewarding. It was such a pleasure to throw myself into planning events and capturing the happiness that came from them.
My role as Math 140 Leader was very memorable. I got the opportunity to branch out from my dorm to help other students in an area where I was previoulsy struggling. I wanted to provide the help that the previous Help Sessions leaders had provided for me. I was in constant contact with my former professor, Jenn, and I was given more responsibility. I had my first job (ever) and had to manage my work, my organizations, my friends, and my job. It was a lot at first, but once I adjusted I fell in love with the job itself. I was encouraging the students to not give up and to keep going. I was excited with them when they got a problem right and figured out the concepts. It made me better as a human and I gained new friendships.
My role as Sophomore Advisor (SA) in the Honors Housing Community has provided such a meaningful experience thus far. I love being there for students who may need help. I love being able to answer the questions that I had last year. The other SAs have been amazing. They have made this time so much better. They have been so welcoming and loving to the point in which they've become family,
