My Insights

Throughout the years, I have learned a great deal about myself and have grown quite a bit. I wanted to share some of the things I learned along the way not only for others to read, but as a reminder to myself to keep going and growing.

Saying "No"

Being in college has taught me how to balance the relationships I had with others while creating a space to put my needs first as well. Learning how to say “No” has been a difficult process for me, but now I can do so when I need to. I don’t mind volunteering my time or signing up for extra responsibilities, but first, I make sure that I have time for my own mental and physical well being. Most recently in my role as President for NRHH, I told my fellow executive officers that I have a tendency to take on a lot of different tasks without being aware and that they were more than welcome to approach me if they felt that I was doing so; this was one way I could ensure that even if I failed to tell myself “no”, that one of them would do it for me, and it has worked wonderfully.
